Me Myself and I

A wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter, a cousin, a niece, a aunt, a friend. How in life do we separate ourselves from all these things and give back to ourselves. Should I feel selfish, should I feel guilt? It has taken me 34 years and I finally figured out that, "if mama isn't happy... nobody is happy." I always read that quote and laughed, until my 16 year old said it one day. She is absolutely correct. If I am not taking the time out to care for myself, then who is. And If I don't take care of myself, who is going to take care of them? Ultimate happiness comes from within. That happiness comes when I have exercised, when I have eaten healthy, when I took that little bit of time and got my hair done, when I can look back at the day and be proud of myself. It is self maintenance and everyone needs it. Somewhere in all those titles above I fit in..Me, Myself and I.
I have a goal to balance my life to where I fit in guilt free.

  1. Hi and welcome to the world of blogging. You will love it.

    BE SELFISH!!!

funny thing, my husband taught me to be selfish and in the last year I finally took him up on it. I go to the gym almost every day and I LOVE it - this is a new venture for me. I only just started working out outside of the house. I have learned I need to leave the house to get a proper workout - the house and family are too distracting.

Be Selfish and leave the guilt beside!

I look forward to watching your journey..and blogging with you over on Journey11. If you need anything, hit me up!

  2. Thanks so much Jenn...thats what I tell myself everyday. As I try to setup my blog, i have a teenager singing, a wii fanatic jumping in the living room, one making music out of her dsi, one hula hooping, the dogs barking, the tea whistling, and a husband snoring his lungs out...lol..if it wasn't for my jog this morning i think i would be pulling my hair out...

  3. Hi Angela, nice to meet you! Shannon sent me and I am looking forward to getting to know you and blogging with you over at Journey11. I think self care is a way to help us be more available to others. We have to take care of ourselves so we have the energy to take care of others! Feel free to holler if you need anything!

  4. Nice to meet you Angela. As mothers I think we often overlook ourselves as we are always so busy taking care of everyone else. I have discovered that when I take care of me I am a much better wife, mother, friend, etc. Welcome to the blogging world. ~Lori

  6. This is such an important concept!! Even the Lord taught us to convert ourselves first and then strengthen others. "Convert" can apply to every aspect of life: convert to eating healthy, exercise, developing talents, etc...the list is forever long. When we find the joy in these things we can share it with others so that they will want to have those things too.
I love you so much and am excited to continue learning and growing with you!
